The Turks and Caicos Islands' Premier, Sharlene Robinson, has signed a customs order allowing Hurricane-affected individuals to apply for an exemption from import duty on certain replacement household goods.

The exemption runs from November 1, 2017, until the end of the year and applies to the following goods: sofas, accent chairs, cocktail tables, sofa tables, end tables, bed frames, bed headboards, bed footboards, dining room tables, dining room chairs, mattresses, box springs, dresser drawers and mirrors, night stands, chests of drawers, televisions (one per importer/declarant), refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, and ceiling fans.

Those wishing to claim exemption will be required to show proof of loss or damage, ownership, the length of established ties to the relevant property, and value of goods to be imported.

Individual applications and all evidence must be supplied to the territory's Collector of Customs.
