The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore began accepting electronically filed tax returns for the 2020 tax season on March 1.
All taxpayers, including sole proprietors and partners, must file their income tax returns online via the myTax Portal. IRAS said that taxpayers who receive notifications instructing them to file their income tax returns should e-file by April 18.
This year, around 1.67 million taxpayers are expected to benefit from IRAS's No-Filing Service (NFS) scheme. Taxpayers on the NFS scheme do not need to file a tax return, unless they wish to make adjustments to their income details or relief claims. Affected taxpayers will receive their Notice of Assessment from the end of April. They can still make amendments to their income information and tax relief claims if necessary, through the "Object to Assessment" e-Service.
Given the situation with the COVID-19 virus, IRAS is recommending that taxpayers who require filing assistance should contact it through its online or telephone services.
