The Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone is to offer tech entrepreneurs more expanded rights and privileges to encourage foreign investment and innovation.
Xinhua, the state news agency, reported that "national treatment" will be given to foreigners with permanent residence in China or a Chinese "green card" if they establish technology companies.
Zhang Jianhua, deputy director of Pudong New Area's market supervision bureau, told Xinhua that national treatment will, for the first time, give foreigners equal status with ordinary Chinese citizens, including in areas such as the right to enter markets, obtain financing, and list companies on the stock market.
