Mauritius Financial Sector Saw Healthy Growth In 2014

The Mauritius Financial Services Commission (FSC) has published its 2014 annual report showing healthy growth in the territory's financial services sector.
According to the FSC, the financial and insurance industry in Mauritius remained quite resilient and expanded by 5.4 percent in 2014. The global business sector grew by 6.1 percent in 2014 and contributed around 3.5 percent to GDP.
The number of funds sector licensees grew in 2014 to 893, up from 876 in 2013. In 2014, the FSC Mauritius issued 1,265 GBC1s (resident company) licences. 77 of these authorized firms to operate as Collective Investment Schemes or Closed-End Funds.
1,359 GBC2s (non-resident company) licences were issued in 2014, up from 1,191 in 2013.
