Manx Shipping Registry Introduces Single, Annual Fee

The Isle of Man's Ship Registry recently announced a new single annual fee in place of annual registry and inspection fees.
The fee change is intended to support changes to the Registry's safety and inspection audits, and a new regime of general inspections.
From April 1, 2017, safety management, security, and labour convention inspections audits will be delegated to the ship's Classification Societies, which are seen as being better placed to deliver these services within the allocated time windows.
While these services are moving outside the Ship Registry's remit, the Registry will be introducing a new regime of general inspections, carried out by the Registry's surveyors.
The Registry said the new regime will satisfy the territory's Flag State obligations and ensure the quality of ships on the Register are operating to the very highest standards expected by the Isle of Man.
