Malta Trials Use Of Cryptocurrency For Gaming Industry

Malta's Government says it is working to create a "sandbox" environment to safely test the use of cryptocurrency in the island's online gaming industry.

At the launch of a new blockchain application for the property sector, Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy, and Innovation, Silvio Schembri, said the plan is to allow iGaming players to transact in digital currency in and out of gaming platforms.

Schembri also reiterated the Government's commitment to taking advantage of the efficiencies inherent in blockchain technology to provide public services.
