Malta is to unveil a strategic plan next month to remedy reported judicial and anti-corruption shortcomings identified in a recent European Commission report.
Malta's Minister for Finance, Edward Scicluna, said that in response to the criticisms contained in the Commission's annual "Malta Country Report for 2018", the island will strengthen its institutions, combat money laundering, and fight tax evasion, adding that Malta's recent economic success can be attributed to its adoption of prior Commission recommendations.
Scicluna said the new plan will be overseen by a national coordinating committee, with its own permanent secretariat. The plan is due to be unveiled on April 11, 2018.
