Malta Stock Exchange Doubles Trading Hours

by Jason Gorringe, Lowtax.net, London
21 April, 2017

The Malta Stock Exchange has doubled the hours of daily trading, from three hours to six hours, effective from April 18, 2017.

Announcing the change, Minister for Finance, Edward Scicluna, said extended hours would encourage further trading activity, bring the Exchange into line with the standards applied by other European stock exchanges, and would compliment efforts to improve the Exchange's attractiveness.

The extension in trading hours is the latest in a number of initiatives, and comes days after the first two listings of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) on Prospects, a new market platform of the Malta Stock Exchange designed specifically for SMEs.
