The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission has recently welcomed a delegation from Jersey, as part of efforts to build on mutual cooperation with regulators in the Channel Islands.
On July 2-3, the Jersey FSC met with representatives from the Gibraltar FSC and gave a presentation on the projects that it is undertaking. The Jersey FSC delegation also met Gibraltar FSC management and staff during a series of meetings to obtain an insight into how the Gibraltar FSC functions and to discuss current initiatives. They also met with Albert Isola, Gibraltar's Minister with responsibility for Financial Services, and with representatives from the Gibraltar International Bank.
Samantha Barrass, the Gibraltar FSC CEO, commented: "We are thrilled to have the Jersey FSC here as our guests. It is an excellent opportunity to increase our cooperation as we continue to strengthen as regulatory organizations, and enhance our relationship for the future."
The meeting follows the success of the Guernsey FSC's recent visit to Gibraltar to meet with the regulator. Earlier, in March, the Gibraltar FSC and the Jersey FSC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate with each other in the interest of fulfilling their respective regulatory mandates, particularly in the areas of investor protection, fostering market and financial integrity, and maintaining confidence and systemic stability.
