The Jersey Government has announced the extension of the Co-Funded Payroll Scheme until at least the end of August 2020.

The scheme aims to maintain employment in industries severely affected by the public health restrictions introduced in March 2020.

Under Phase 1 of the scheme, businesses could claim for disruption caused between March 20 and March 31, 2020. Under Phase 2, the Government will refund employers up to a maximum of GBP1,600 per employee, per month, equivalent to 80 percent of a worker's salary up to GBP2,000. This measure was due to be in effect for April, May, and June, 2020.

On June 2, the Government said that the scheme will remain in place until at least the end of August. Ministers will keep the scheme under close review, and the Government intends to decide in July on whether the scheme should be phased out or continue after August.
