The European Commission has agreed that the Isle of Man's financial services regulator applies equal audit standards to those required by members of the European Union.

The recognition of the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority as a "competent authority" was confirmed by the Manx regulator on August 8, 2016.

The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority said: "Despite the fact that this decision affects only a small number of Manx companies and their auditors, it is a positive endorsement that the Isle of Man's standards in relation to this matter are considered by external assessors to meet international expectations of quality."
