In a bid to grow its e-gaming sector, the Isle of Man has announced that it is to exempt certain workers employed in the IT sector from work permit requirements.
The exemption will apply only to employment lasting at least 12 months and to individuals earning a salary of more than GBP25,000 (USD36,350) per year.
For IT sector workers, an individual must have a minimum of three years' experience in an ICT role; or hold a computer science degree; or hold certain technical or vocational qualifications; or be able to demonstrate competency at a specified level of the Skills Framework for the Information Age.
For those looking to take up an e-business role, the individual must have at least two years' experience in an e-business position, or have advanced mathematical, statistical, or data analysis skills or an extensive knowledge of e-business systems and processes.
E-gaming is the the island's fastest growing sector. E-business currently contributes approximately 25 percent of the island's National Income and provides employment for 1,700 people.
