The Port of Gibraltar is sending delegates to Hong Kong to host a series of events for maritime industry executives, shipping associations, operators, and ship owners, in a move to generate business from Asia.
The Gibraltar Ship Register is a member of the Red Ensign Group, of the UK, its Crown Dependencies, and Overseas Territories. It offers a very competitive fee structure for vessel registration and relatively low tonnage tax, in place of a tax on profits. There is also no value-added tax in Gibraltar.
Neil Costa, Gibraltar's Minister for Tourism, Commercial Affairs, Public Transport and the Port, said: "I am delighted at the opportunity of traveling to Hong Kong, an international hub of the global maritime industry, and be able to showcase the quality professional services offered by the Port of Gibraltar to an experienced and discerning gathering of shipping experts. The trip and activities that we will be undertaking there are part of the Gibraltar Government's robust promotion efforts to highlight the commercial and strategic importance of our Port."See all of today's news
