Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, part of the newly developed China (Shanghai) Pilot Free-Trade Zone, has welcomed its second placement in a new global ranking of low-tax zones.
Waigaoqiao was the first free trade zone established in China and has attracted many market-leading multinational companies, including Microsoft, BNP Paribas, Total S.A., Sony, and Amazon.
The rankings were compiled by fDi Intelligence, a division of Financial Times Ltd, said the zone has adopted a series of management policies to ensure fairness and transparency for all investors.
The report said the zone's regulatory system "has been implemented to provide investors with a stable regulatory environment, and [its] financial innovation system is aimed at opening up the financial services sector and attracting foreign capital."
Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, United Arab Emirates, placed top of the 2016 free trade zone ranking.
