Cayman To Further Streamline Customs Clearance

by Mike Godfrey, Lowtax.net, Washington

The Cayman Islands' Customs Department is rolling out a new online trader portal to make it easier for importers to clear goods electronically.

Beginning November 1, 2017, the new portal will act as a platform for electronic submissions, and is the first phase of a five-phase modernization and reform process to the Department's business processes, laws, policies, and IT systems.

Commenting on the new clearance procedure, Charles Clifford, Collector of Customs, said: "This will be the first phase of the business modernization and refining process that Customs will embark on over the next three years. This initiative is aimed at delivering excellent customer service and more efficient trade facilitation for importers in the Cayman Islands."
