The ninth Caribbean-UK Forum concluded with a joint commitment to continue to tackle tax avoidance and promote transparency.
At their recent meeting, representatives from the UK and CARICOM agreed to work together to curtail tax non-compliance by expanding on measures to increase transparency surrounding the ownership of assets. They discussed cooperation in the areas of asset recovery, investigations, and prosecutions.
The Caribbean discussed the importance it attaches to being involved in discussions on international tax reform and called for the UK Government's support with regards to foreign banks' decisions to disband correspondent banking relationships.
