Bermuda's profile among New York-based corporate executives has received a boost with business billionaire Michael Bloomberg telling a gathering of senior US business leaders that the island plays a special role in the global economy.
"[Bermuda] helps to fuel growth and support jobs through trade and investments," he said.
His comments came during an "awareness-raising forum," at the Bloomberg headquarters and co-hosted by the Bermuda Business Development Agency.
The event, attended by industry professionals, included a question-and-answer session with Bermuda Premier Michael Dunkley and Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief Matt Winkler.
Representatives from Bermuda highlighted the territory's offering to foreign investors and the local industry's growth, high performance, and recent diversification.
Commenting on the event, Ross Webber, BDA CEO, said: "This event was a prime opportunity to heighten Bermuda's profile as a top-tier jurisdiction and raise awareness about what our market offers US corporations The high-profile nature of this forum, with the added benefit of Mike Bloomberg's personal endorsement, has considerably strengthened awareness of Bermuda and differentiated us from other offshore domiciles."
