Bermuda's Prime Minister, David Burt, has launched a public awareness campaign calling on all islanders and businesses to support the Government's efforts to combat global financial crime.
Its new awareness campaign - It's Just Good Business – highlights efforts underway by the island's Government, authorities, and Bermuda-based businesses to ensure Bermuda meets the highest anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CTF) standards.
In addition to educating the public, the campaign is designed to emphasize the importance of financial entities, businesses, and individuals complying with their reporting requirements, including properly reporting suspicious financial activity. Burt said these reports play an important role in drawing the attention of Bermuda's authorities to criminal behavior.
The Government has launched a new "Good Business Bermuda" website to support the campaign, which includes information on the island's regulatory activities, its AML/CTF regime, information on international sanctions, and consultation documents on proposed reforms. It includes information on how potentially illicit activities can be reported.
