Barbados's Minister of Finance, Christopher Sinckler, has urged taxpayers to take advantage of a new tax amnesty scheme on offer from September 15.
The tax amnesty was announced during this year's Budget and will run from September 15, 2016, to February 15, 2017. It covers VAT, income tax, and land tax.
Taxpayers seeking to have penalties, interest, and other charges waived will have to pay the outstanding principal on or before February 15, 2017.
Sinckler said the tax amnesty will be the last for some time. "Our position is that after this amnesty ends in February, there is going to be a very vigorous approach by the Barbados Revenue Authority and the authorities generally to collect all of those taxes that are due to Government," he said.
