Officials from Barbados's Customs Service will instead begin working for the Barbados Revenue Authority from October 1 as part of a merger of the two authorities.
The merger was initially slated to occur in April 2015. Customs personnel have now received offer letters.
Margaret Sivers, the Revenue Commissioner, said the merger will involve restructuring and training for staff. She said: "We have a framework and a proposed organization structure but we will not have the final organization structure until we have in place a senior management team. Our belief is that while we may have a proposal, we feel that senior management should be involved in how the organization is structured."
She explained that there would be three main departments: Airport Operations, Bridgetown Port Operations, and Mobile Operations.
