Bahamas To Introduce Tax Certificates

The Bahamas Department of Inland Revenue has announced the introduction of tax compliance certificates.

These certificates will be issued to taxpayers who have complied with their tax obligations in filing their tax returns and paying the assessed taxes.

Tax compliance certificates will be required for anyone who wishes to tender for or receive payment under a government contract, to register or change ownership of taxable goods, or receive government concessions or allowances. The certificates will be valid for a period of either one month or six months.

The Bahamas has legislated for the certificates in the Financial Administration and Audit (Amendment) Act 2015.
