Bahamas and Finland have signed a protocol to their 2010 tax information exchange agreement, which provides for the automatic exchange of information in tax matters between the two countries.
The Bahamas has already committed to exchanging financial account information with partner jurisdictions under the OECD's Common Reporting Standard, starting in September 2018. The signing of the protocol means the Bahamas and Finland are now automatic exchange of information partners.
The Bahamas' Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Peter Turnquest, said: "The Bahamas will continue assisting and cooperating with jurisdictions in the effort to deter and prevent tax evasion and avoidance, and increase transparency and exchange of information for tax purposes."
