The Government of the British Virgin Islands is moving ahead with its 2016 Budget plans to revise work permit fees.
It is intended to roll out an amended work permit fee structure with effect from April 2017, replacing the current fee structure that has been in place since 1981.
The revision of work permit fees is part of the territory's reform of immigration and labor laws, detailed in the islands' 10-point inward investment promotion strategy known as "BVI Forward".
Over the past year, the Financial Services Implementation Unit, tasked with implementing BVI Forward, has been working closely with the Departments of Labour and Immigration to streamline the work permit process to achieve greater efficiency and eliminate duplication.
