Indonesia To Shoulder Retailers' VAT On Rental Costs

Mary Swire, Tax-News.com, Hong Kong

10 August, 2021

The Indonesian Government has legislated to shoulder the value-added tax liability of retail businesses on rent and service charges due between August and October 2021.

To be eligible, a business's activities must wholly or partly involve the provision of goods and services to final consumers. It covers standalone shops and units within shopping centers, apartment facilities, hotels, hospitals, education facilities, offices, and open markets.

The terms of the scheme are set out in Regulation Number 102/PMK.010/2021, which was published in the Official Gazette on July 30, 2021.
