Executive Summary: Equatorial Guinea is located in Central Africa bordering the Atlantic coast between Cameroon and Gabon. In 2014 the population is an estimated 720,000. The official languages are Spanish and French. The discovery and exploitation of large oil and gas reserves have contributed to dramatic economic growth, although fluctuating oil prices have curtailed growth in recent years and the economy contracted by an estimated 1.3% in 2013. The government is keen to encourage foreign investment, particularly from the United States, and efforts to diversify the economy have been concentrated on five economic sectors, including agriculture, fishing, mining and petrochemicals, tourism and financial services. Customs and tax incentives are provided to companies operating in certain industries and taxpayers located in some coastal areas.
