Here is a decent spread of articles about the QROPS/QNUPS industry this month, with many offering different insights and opinions. The topic of QROPS for US residents has become increasingly prominent in recent months, and it may be that there are inherent difficulties here. There are advocates of using Malta, who have DTA in place with USA, and also structures using UK SIPPS with US investments. You need to check out all the options cautiously.

There are articles covering the general size and scope of the industry, one of which states that there are about 10,000 QROPS being taken out each year. It would be interesting to see how many of those are being advised by UK based IFAs, especially now that under RDR, QROPS must be considered as part of advice given.

There is a cautionary QNUPS article stating that these are hitting the mainstream, whatever that may mean. We believe that care should be taken over QNUPS and to always keep in mind it is a PENSION first and foremost.

We provide QROPS/QNUPS advice and products in Guernsey, IOM, Malta and Gibraltar. We have UK based consultants. To learn more please visit www.qropschoice.com or contact us on consultants@qropschoice.com
