A delegation of Arab ambassadors has arrived in Jersey for a two-day visit, as part of Jersey's efforts to strengthen its political and business ties with the Gulf region.
The delegates from the Arab Ambassadors' Council (AAC), lead by the Kuwaiti Ambassador, Khaled Al Duwaisan, attended meetings with Jersey's Chief Minister. Ian Gorst, and other senior ministers and representatives from the island's financial services industry.
Gorst said: "It is an honor to welcome to Jersey such a prestigious delegation from the Arab Ambassadors' Council. This visit will reinforce our ties with existing partners such as the UAE and Qatar, and will help to promote Jersey more widely in the region. Direct engagement of this kind raises Jersey's profile and helps to identify opportunities for further, mutually beneficial relations."
Earlier this month Gorst led a delegation to the United Arab Emirates, where Jersey signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority. Jersey's Treasury and Resources Minister, Philip Ozouf, also visited Qatar and Saudi Arabia this month.
