The Cook Islands tax authority has launched a new eTax website for taxpayers.
Initially, the system will handle VAT and PAYE returns. In 2016, it will be expended to offer filing and payment for income tax, company tax, and withholding tax returns.
Mark Brown, the Minister of Finance, said: "Automation will aid [the] Revenue Management [Division] considerably in delivering an efficient and effective service to the community, and the eTax system will automate some of those current processes that place a demand on Revenue Management's already limited resources."
The new system will allow tax agents to access limited information about their clients, though key data will be kept securely on Revenue Management's server and will only be accessible to the appropriate tax agency staff members.
