Anguilla Consults On Beneficial Ownership Registry

The Government of Anguilla has invited industry feedback on proposals to abolish bearer shares, and on the creation of a central registry of beneficial ownership.
The consultation follows Anguilla's Action Plan, published in August 2013, which outlines its commitment to enhancing transparency on beneficial ownership of companies and working with the international community to fight tax evasion and money laundering.
The consultation considers whether beneficial ownership information should be available in a central registry, and whether this information should be publicly available.
The consultation, which mirrors similar discussions ongoing in other British Overseas Territories, will run until August 8, 2014.
