Russia: Country and Foreign Investment
In terms of land area, Russia is the largest country in the world, covering almost 9% of the world's land surface and spanning nine time zones. Russia shares borders with 14 countries: Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the People's Republic of China, and North Korea.
About 11% of Russia is tundra - a biome where the tree growth is hindered by low temperatures and short growing seasons. To the south of the tundra zone is a band of boreal forest - a biome characterized by numerous coniferous forests. The steppe then lies to the south of the boreal forest - this is an area characterized by grassland plains.
